It Never Ends

IT’S HERE! Got the first three copies of my novel in the mail yesterday. HELL yeah. That’s the good news.

The bad news? There’s a CRAPload of errors in the book. I honestly don’t know what happened, I guess I didn’t save something or I uploaded the wrong document. Either way, the book has typos, grammatical errors, and now I’m freaking out, trying to fix them and get it uploaded again before I leave town for Angelfire…gonna shred up the slopes with the Randolph family.

SO. Stressin’. Gotta go through the whole book with a pen, and then fix it on the digital document.

Back to work.

I am officially a published author as of today, the 12th of March, 2010.

Just ordered three copies of my book to go over and make sure all is well with the formatting and design.

Can’t believe it.

So, now I’m going to wait for R.C. & Co. to put the final touches on my BADASS cover and then it’s time to upload to the website I’m using for publishing. Crazy!

Weekend End

Spent about seven hours yesterday just reading my manuscript and making little nit-picky edits. Actually, the majority of it was taking out commas. Funsies. More of the same today, almost done…probably by around noon I’ll finish that and move on to formatting. Maybe I’ll even catch some of the Oscars tonight after I do the homework assigned this weekend. Joy. I actually really hope that the Hurt Locker gets Best Picture. That would awesome. Kathryn Bigelow is a beast.

Gonna grab some more coffee and get to work…

Back from Bamberger. For any readers of this blog who have not heard or even HAVE heard of Bamberger Ranch, I urge you to go. Spend at least one night there, and watch the sunrise in the morning. I had an amazing experience there, and count myself extremely fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to go.

Back to work…putting final touches on the cover, the people at Roger’s place are blowing my mind. Thank you Roger and Co. once again…I’ll be saying it many more times.

Finished 3rd draft, now it’s the combing stage…going to be slow going but I think it’ll be good. Another cover-to-cover reading to make little changes and make sure everything is ship-shape. After that it’ll be formatting in Microsoft Word which is going to be a BITCH if you’ll excuse my French. The goal is to have it done by Monday.

3rd Draft

Doing some edits on my third draft…it’s absolutely KILLING me…I’m shaving off words and pages bit by bit…it hurts!

Roger Christian, the AWESOME guy who designed the cover for my book, has sent me his final concept, and I dig it.

Cover 7

This is a super low-res version, but this is it conceptually. I’m going to be out all next week on a class trip…but a stopwatch has been ordered online, and while I’m gone, my dad’s going to photograph it, and Ron, another awesome, totally rad dude, is going to make it beautiful for me in Photoshop with the doors on it. I’m SUPER stoked…as long as I can get the manuscript where I want it in time. Nah, it should be fine. Going to work on it for a couple more hours today…watch the gold medal hockey match…U! S! A!…and then later I have a team party with my basketball teammates. Should be good.

The End is Near…

STRESS. Doing a read-through of the entire novel, trying not to edit as I go…just going over the story. Meeting with Laurie on Wednesday, and finishing up draft number two. I think the goal is to have it done by the first week of March…it’s going to take a lot of work…school is keeping me BUSY right now.

SO I’ll keep ya’ll updated…but second draft is almost done.
